Sustainable Development in Costa Rica
Homes in Harmony, Habitats Restored
Sustainable development in Costa Rica is a central commitment of Tierra Pacífica Green Communities. The master plan for the company’s first project, Tierra Pacifica in Junquillal, was designed in accordance with the local topography and ecology – working with nature rather than against it.
More important than selling property to prospective owners is our commitment to building a community of compatible people. With our vision, Tierra Pacifica owners will become a close knit group of friends with a common goal. We are seeking interesting, thoughtful people who are looking to embrace the Costa Rican lifestyle through being part of an environmentally friendly community.

Water
Helping recharge aquifer and improving area water quality - Tierra Pacifica will be one of the first significant residential developments in Latin America to retain nearly all storm water on site through a combination of natural and man-made wetlands. Wetlands enhance wildlife and plant habitat, hold water back for use in the dry season and rejuvenate the precious underground aquifer. Water and wetlands is a key to sustainable development in Costa Rica.

The Land
Regenerating soils, habitat and biodiversity - Tierra Pacifica will be the first significant Latin America and Costa Rica real estate in which an on-site nursery, ecological landscaping plan and habitat restoration program. These efforts represent a long term commitment to protect and improve soil quality, regenerate native flora, and increase the health and diversity of resident fauna. Working with experienced , local forestry experts we Tierra Pacifica will have an ongoing reforestation project to restore our land to its natural state over time.

The Community
Supporting healthy lifestyles, producing healthy food and strengthening the local economy. Tierra Pacific will organize the first Community Supported Agriculture “membership farm” (CSA) in Latin America linked to an innovative sustainable farming cooperative. Our community will benefit from the availability of healthy food, and the regional economy will retain local farming opportunities. What this means for the residents is that fresh organic fruits and vegetables will be readily available throughout the year.

Education Center
The facility is available for general community use plus it will offer continuing education classes on Costa Rican natural history and environmental practices led by recognized professors to help Tierra Pacifica residents, friends and family understand the surrounding tropical forests and ocean biodiversity and habitat. The ecology and climate of this region is complex and diverse, and scientists spend their lives studying it. The education center will help you access and understand this wonderful and important world without getting a PhD.
