Tierra Pacifica is committed to green development practices, both within our community and in our watershed as a whole. We support Restoring Our Watershed, a US-based 501(c)3, in their efforts to improve aquifer recharge, preserve and enhance wildlife habitat, and restore the local food system with micro-lending.
Last month, ROW installed 20 honeybee hives as part of their “Bees for Trees” pilot project. These hives are now in addition to the 15 placed last year, supplying our valley with amazing (as well as pure), raw honey. Two local farmers received low-interest loans in the form of the hives and beekeeping equipment in exchange for reforesting critical areas of their farms. With more honey projected to flow in the Nandamojo watershed next year, everybody wins. To read more about the project, check out ROW’s website.
